BC expedition 110 visiting and in need of a u-joint
« on: June 30, 2013, 11:03:59 PM »
There are some folks from BC in the Wolfville area (Cape Split trail today) who are traveling around the country (side) in a 87 110 tdi. They are currently without 1 prop shaft as the u-joint packed it in. They would like to find the part locally, not having a shipping address etc. I will get some updated info.

---------------------------------------------------------FORWARD FROM E_MAIL-----------------------------------------------------

Anyhow, a bit bout the ol girl.  She isnt a series im afraid, but an
87 D110 w/ a 300tdi and various camping bits (were living out of it
for a year or so while riding round the continent).  And right now,
its in 1 wheel drive.  The rear ujoint in the rear prop shaft packed
it in so badly i had to drop it and punch it out before we went deaf
(the red PEI mud will do that, apparantly).

So the tcase is locked, rear shaft is out, and highway speeds, well,
arent.  All this because no shops worth talking to can find a
replacement ujoint or are open.  Do you (or someone in you club)
have a ujoint?
From what ive been able to gather a precision 344, or a spicer 5-4x.

Same as on a disco 1.  What came out was a GKN 9J, which i have no
idea on. (Kicking my self so hard for bringing a spare ujoint that
didnt fit.. Got tossed right quick)

We are also headed to halifax on the 1st for canada day stuff; if
you manage to find one, or wrangle one, or know someone that might
maybe have it, any and all info is appreciated.

As for photos, kind of hard to do right now (super low signal here
on the spit) but its a silver D110, exo cage, green rooftoptent and
canoe bag on roof, with BC plates, cant be too many of those in
halifax :)

Cheers!

If they are the same as a series 3 and I think they might be I have one.  I also have one for a 90. I'm in the valley.

The 90 and the early series (the small ones) are listed as the same while the 110 is the same as the later series.
I have both here if needed.
Not that far from Wolfville and can fit the joint also

If anyone knows how to get a hold of Ashek it would be appreciated if he were told about the PGE that's in N.B this year.

If they are traveling through this area they might want to stop by for the event .

My shop is also available if any repairs are needed .
