Sweden Offroad Adventure - Spring Trial 2011
« on: May 04, 2011, 10:34:18 PM »
Last weekend was the SOA Spring Trial in Bl?ningsm?la, Sweden, it was great to have finally get out on the trials this year and do a bit of camping. This year though, it was a bit different for me as I'm now a crew member who works as Trial Support. A bit more work and responsibility for the participants but still got to drive the trials with the hybrid.  :fing02  The two truetrac's really were impressive, I cleared hinders that I would have normally winched through.

We had 24 vehicles participating of which 7 were Land Rovers in Group 2 (11 were booked but there was a few cancellations) The weather was great, the trials were perfect. No major break downs in our group other that one twisted drive shaft that was fixed within hours, the Land Rovers proved to be the more reliable vehicle choice of the weekend. The Jeep group had to break down into 2 smaller groups, one that drove and the other that did repairs.  :rofl

Here are some pictures of the weekend;

You can also go into the "galleri" at SOA to see all the pictures uploaded from both groups.

Already pumped and looking forward to the Summer Trial in a few months.  :fing02

Enjoy,

Great video, Todd.  Looks rocky enough to be Nova Scotia.

Nice run.

While looking at different geological obstacles on the trail, example, video marker @ 0.28 sec.

I think your series Land Rover is more capable than some of the Defenders. You crawl up and over the big rock with ease while some other folks bounce and spin, getting friendly with the tree.

Team TUKO  may also be  more experienced at driving and navigating.

The Volvo Laplander seemed to keep up most of the time. The L3314 in Truro is still looking for a new home.

Great to see a good turn out.

That is true enough. Todd cut his teeth off-roading here at the farm way back in 1987 driving a Dodge Raider

Yes Team Tuko did well over the weekend and we are growing more confident with the landy every day. It's true the level of competent is apparent in the films, just the simplest thing as finding the friction point and holding it was impossible for a few.  :doh2 I think all those years ago, the pointers and tips I got from John on the trials back of his place may have sunk in.  :biggrin

The Volvo C202, that was a cool vehicle to watch. Saturday night driving down to the evening camp, on a fairly tame trial the driver side hub just blew off the axle.... in many non recognizable pieces.  :sadsmile
