Well, I'm not sure I'll make it but I'm going to try to build a new truck in time for the Moose. I dropped off a nice really nice EX-MOD frame to be galvanized last week and if I get it back this week I have a chance. I started in earnest today, blasting the axle housings and related bits, I'll have the POR-15 on tonight. I also rounded up some bodywork, fenders from here, doors from there. I got most of the sheetmetal hammered into shape today as well.
Fortunatly, I'd already done the galvanizing for all the other bits some time ago, so that's ready.
This truck will be much like my previous 109 PU "Jake" but I'm going with a rear tank this time. Thanks to Eric Barr, I have a rear fill setup, It will be neat to have a bit of Tardis in the new truck.
Sadly, I'm also swamped at work these days, so it's just evenings, LONG evenings.
Wish me luck.
Pete

Of course if anyone can do it you can Pete. Hope the results meet your high standards and that you can make it to the Moose.

Good luck. If you don't beat me you will never ever live it down. Hmm...I see you're not fazed...imperturbable as it were. Well, we'll see comes out on top. Let the build off begin!!
Ignore the fact that Pete is building a truck and I am installing an engine

C'mon Niall, You can do it!
A before shot...
Although this is the truck I'm rebuilding, it's already taken apart. I also have a nice new tub which solves the massive hole in the side of this one issue.

Get to work Pete, you gotta build an entire vehicle before Niall installs a motor. Don't cut any corners, make 'er safe. Todd.

It was so nice out I took this afternoon off to work on the truck. Now I have to do office work tonight.
Hammered out some more dents, my what a lot of dents! Sanded off a lot of old paint and started with the etch primer.
I converted the SIII tub to a IIA by cutting out the missing light hole and using the cutout to fill the SIII hole at the bottom. I built a jig to hold them in place while I tried that bloody alumaweld brazing shit again. I've never had any luck with that stuff at all. So I epoxied in the disks!
Went back over to the compressor farm at Shawns to do more blasting.
Then some more acid bath work, here's the seat brackets almost done.
Then finally got the POR-15 on I should have done yesterday. I remembered to wear gloves as POR-15 will stick to skin 'till the skin comes off. But I managed to splash a great spray across my face. I'll be making some excuses at meetings for a while...
I did discover a few big holes in the gas tank I'm using so there's a little more work there.
Onward...
Pete

Pete, Eric Riston has mentioned a product that takes POR-15 off skin. I can't remember the name.

A bit OT but Silicon Wax remover will wash off caulking like 3M 5200 or Sikaflex before it sets..... hard on the skin though....
