Joan and I had a marvelous time in Newfoundland and Labrador. The highlights were Battle Harbour, Broom Point, Western Brook Pond and the tablelands in Gros Morne. Only a little bit of off road to get to a lighthouse. About 200 km on unpaved roads. Needed another few weeks just to see all of Western Newfoundland and a month or more beyond that to see the rest. Lots of dirt roads I had to pass that I would have explored with more time and more vehicles.

The future King William IV described Newfoundland as "truly deplorable... a most dreadful, inhospitable and barren country" until he met "the inexhaustible supply of women of the most obliging kind." We missed that part.
