The book was a good read.  The DVD that Graeme put together using the original footage was enjoyable as well.

I found an original copy of the book from 1957 in England.  I had it shipped to me costing a total of 10 pounds including the book.  I read half of it in one sitting.  Thanks for the info guys!!

My Dad got a copy from the book club in the 1950s so i have read it many times over the years. As time passes the chance of repeating the journey has become more and more politically impossible. So much for progress!

There is a team with replica vehicles that is going to attempt the journey again this year:

The biggest issues will be the political elements in Burma.  I've read of groups attempting to get on that section of road and being turned back by the government/drug lords.  It seems that this team thinks that they have a solution.    Iraq and Iran may also be impediments.
