I have four new cell phone chargers available to loan to people who want to try a wind powered cell phone charger. These are test models made by the Be-An-Yes company of Alberta. The generator itself is small and fully enclosed with no sharp edges or exposed moving parts. Its Velcro tabs are designed to stick to the inside of jeans, but they will hold on most cotton pants. The generator will not work in a skirt. The electrical connection is a micro-USB connector. The kind the newest cell phones (except iPhones) use. The wire is very thin and the slack is kept by a spring loaded roller. The wire has a clip to keep it in place on the waste band. If you are interested please be prepared to give some wind measurements in your vicinity.

These sound really cool! Man, green technology just keeps advancing.

Gerald, can you run these backwards? I'm thinking if my phone was fully charged, but there was no wind, this would be great on the sailboat when stuck in the doldrums.
