Thanks JWF,

I'm not clear though, what exactly is possible.
The MORE club generally is about 60% campers and the balance being more civilized.
But we campers don't all sleep in our trucks.
Tents, pop ups, Several Boler trailers and two big old Airstreams.
We also like to set up a screened day shelter.
Is this the sort of camping you're referring to?

If not, I certainly understand, just want to know how to plan.
Once there is clarity on this, you may find registrations flood in.

Best Cheers, can't wait

Thanks Peter,
Yes that was my impression when we first suggested inviting the MORE group to KES.
Since then we have encountered some resistance from both the school administration
and our own show and shine fanatics.

But i will not let the issue drop and it is on the agenda for our next committee meeting
on Wednesday. We may have to set a limit based on total space available in the area set
aside by KES but fear not, we will have Gypsies in our camp Friday and Saturday nights.

So it may be first come first served for camping both nights. I'll try to get some definite
numbers on the space available when I'm on campus Wednesday and let you all know.

We will still be accepting registrations on the day (July 24th) but we will not be able to
offer meals or dormitories to anyone registering later than July 12th.

Cheers,

Hello again...

It seems that camping at KES will be limited to tents only and there is only room for
about five in the allocated space.  And as predicted, these will be first come, first served.

I sure hope this doesn't dampen the adventurous spirit Rovers are known for and that
you will be joining us July 24th.

Our President, has written to Gerald Ruderman and asked him to post his message here.
But I thought I ought to mention it in the meantime and provide a link to alternate camping
in the Windsor area. Exhibition Park is the closest. Others are a few miles off but still handy.

http://www.townofwindsor.ns.ca/accommodations.html

Those who get the five tent sites we are able to provide are invited to join me round the
campfire of the 84th Regiment of Foot on Friday night and share a ration of rum and talk
about how we can do better next year.

Cheers,
~jwf~

Dear Gerald,

Would you please advise the MORE group of the following?  Post it on your website perhaps?
Thanks.
f.

Dear MORE people,

I am writing as President of the British Motoring Festival Society.  I fear I have sent many of you, if not all, down a road which I should not have.  The road to which I refer is the one that has many of you believing there is a campground at its end.

An early email from me to your website promoting the BMF made reference to bringing your “whole ecology”; that was in reference to a Land Rover I’d recently seen that was a wonderful mixture of mud, metal and mosses.  That is the kind of vehicle which we, the BMF, insisted from the outset that should be made welcome at our festival.  Unfortunately, my reference to “whole ecology” somehow led some down the road to campsites and trailers.

I am sorry, but the British Motoring Festival is NOT able to accommodate anything but a very few tents on the festival site.  We cannot possibly accommodate any trailers of any size.

I apologize for the misunderstanding.  Please know, however, that the British Motoring Festival welcomes the MORE group.  We have reasonably priced rooms on campus in which you can sleep and there are also campgrounds nearby.  I am sure John Fulton of the BMF Society will be more than happy to give you the campsites’ contact information.

Thank you for your understanding.  I hope you will still consider the British Motoring Festival an event worthy of your participation.

Sincerely,

Frank Boothroyd

Ahh, what a pot I've stirred.

Deepest regrets for the turmoil.
I just needed to know how to plan.

I'm sure I speak for all MORE members when I say I feel privileged to be invited and that I expect no special accommodations.
I fully understand that the grounds of King's Edgehill would not take kindly to an encampment of trailers.

Best Cheers
Peter Knowles

Who sadly, doesn’t even have a running Rover at the moment, but will certainly enjoy strolling among the British cars.

Cheers Peter,

Not entirely a turmoil of MORE making. We were already brewing our own tempest.

All our plans have generally had to be downgraded because KES rather shockingly
has denied us permission to park anywhere on their rolling green lawns. It came
as a shock to us when we saw the contract they drew up.

Someone must have told them that old British cars leak and they have forbidden
us to leave any oil or tire tracks on their grass.

Our original dreams of a classic concourse setting have been shrunken back to the
available paved roadways and parking lot areas around the campus.
This results in a great reduction of the parking space available. But there is still lots of
room for the 125 cars registered so far. (And we might have another 100 show up on the day)

We can all of course stroll, walk, run, jog, sashay, gambol and skip across the greenery and KES
is still a beautiful setting with lots of huge spreading shade trees to hide under. And they have
agreed to allow five tents for Rovers on the grassy knoll behind the athletic center..

See y'all there.
Cheers,
~jwf~

This morning in the Halifax paper there is an article on the British Motoring Festival.  They mention that they will have a collection of Land Rovers from all over the Maritimes.  I hope they won't be disappointed.  Some of us are now going up for Saturday only and I guess we should be there by 8:00 a.m.  I wonder if we could have a head count so we could have an idea of who is going.  Thanks,

Final call for reservations to the Saturday evening Awards Banquet/Dance and Sunday Breakfast.
We have to give final numbers to the caterers on Thursday of this week so if you want to attend
let us know via email or online registration before midnight tomorrow (Wed July 14).

FYI
BMF pre-registration is now closed. Here are the final numbers for food and shelter:
151 for the banquet; 90 for Breakfast; 13 beds Friday night and 25 beds Saturday night.

We have 115 cars and Rovers pre-registered and expect anywhere between 40 and 80
others to show up on Saturday morning to participate in the show.

How many of the General Public will attend is a guessing game but the Windsor Volunteer
Fire Department is preparing for anywhere from 500 to 1,500 at their on-site BBQ all day.

Thanks to those in MORE who helped coordinate their members and all MORE members who
have either pre-registered or plan to come for the show July 24th.

The Mr Bean show is worth the price of admission!  And we have lots of door prizes too.

Hope to see you all there!

Cheers

OK,

So I am planning to take the Ferret to the British Motering Festival this weekend. In preperation for the event, I took the Ferret out driving Sunday so I could park along side the Landrovers (if you will have me). I think it looks perfect the way it is now and with a bit more kit on her everything will blend in really nice. I may even bring the cam nets and set up some cover.

Cheers

I'll be going up Saturday for the day... might stay the night, but not 100% sure at the moment.

Wow! That Ferret is quite the ...'thing'.    Love it!

We can offer a place of honour near the center of the action or you can buddy up with the Rover group.
Ben P is bringing his DB tractor on Friday and we have a space for unloading and stowing transport trailers.

Anyone else transporting on a trailer please advise me and perhaps give some idea of when you expect to arrive.
If you can find Wiley Avenue (the first west of College Road off Hwy 1) look for the KES gravel 'service road'
to make a discreet entrance.

College Road will be a bit jammed with registrants Saturday morning. Especially around 9am to 9:15 as no one
told the Town of Windsor we were coming and they have scheduled a provincial championship road race
(not a fund raising jog - a genuine foot race) that includes College Road and some of the campus lanes as part
of a pre-neasuerd distance they can not (will not) change. This interruption should not last more than 15
minutes and will be controlled by RCMP cruisers.

Look for BMF Committee members in Yellow T-shirts (we will all be on walkie talkies) for assistance and directions.

JWF,

I will be transporting the Ferret by Trailer. Arrival time @ 0800.

The Ferret is street legal, I may pull her off before I get there and drive in, but I may just wait until I am on Site.

When you say the KES gravel "service road" do you mean the entrance to Kings Edgehill lane off Clifton Ave? Is that an option?

Cheers

Heading west on Hwy 1 into Windsor (which is King Street)  look for Wiley Avenue,
it`s the next left after College Road just as King Street (Hwy 1) turns to become Obrien.
About a hundred feet in, Wiley swings right and passes behind the KES maintenance sheds.
The `service road` is right (left actually) there. `

See if the map is active at:
http://www.britishmotoringfestival.com/maps.php
Wiley Avenue should be just above the google marker.
The service road (not shown)  is about where the word Ŕve appears on Wiley Ave
