Is anyone actually looking into this?

Peter

I hope to be there.  David Brown tractor or Land Rover?  Maybe both, but the David Brown on a trailer
would test the towing limits of the 90.

So...   if we could convince them to wash their cars over a low lying area that would turn into a muddy lagoon, we could create a nice, soupy spot for Land Rover Tug-of-War. Categories (and trophies, of course) for 88's, 109's, non-standard engines, Rangies, etc.

[insert your favourite sarcastic smilies here]

Okay, okay, I'll go back to work, now. And I'll seek counselling. Just don't take my truck away.

The organizers welcome our participation. We will be parked amongst the clean vehicles.

I wonder if we might have an articulation ramp we could bring to park one Land Rover on. Please propose non-driving displays we can have. For example, diff rebuild; U-joint change using a Leatherman tool and King Dick wrench.

We are planning two trails for Sunday. One will be a green lane to get more people to come out with minimal risk of doing anything besides getting a little dirty. The other will be harder. The event itself will have no driving events. So there may be no reference to our plans for Sunday on the event web site.

LROs wish to come only for Sunday do not need to register for the event. You are welcome for breakfast. If you plan to do this let the organizers of BMF know so there will be food for you.

Check the web site http://www.britishmotoringfestival.com for how to register.

Who's planning on going to this event? I think it would be a lot of fun plus there would be some nice sports cars to look at

I'll be there with the 101 and Range Rover.

The organizers are open to demonstrations that do not involve driving. Please make some suggestions.

Hi Rover groupies!

Yes we (the BMF festival committee) are really looking forward
to having you participate in the event. We've sorta left it up to
Gerald to organise your lot. We will be 'on campus' tomorrow Saturday
May 8th between 1:30 and 3pm for a look round and some organising
discussions. If you're in the area drop by and say hi and have a look at
the layout of the place.

And for those coming on Sunday (July 25) only for your own 'tour' we can provide
an 'English Breakfast' for just $12 but will need to know in advance how many to expect.

Remember that those who come on Friday or Saturday will need to pre-register
(see the website) and we can offer dormitory style accommodation at the school
for just $25 a bed Friday and/or Sarurday night. Saturday is party night!
Register at:
http://www.britishmotoringfestival.com/

Cheers,
~jwf~

Greetings Rovers!

As of today we have about four Landrovers registered for the BMF July 24th.
An encouraging start and we hope to see a lot MORE.

We have acquired permission from Kings Edgehill for Landrovers to camp on site
if necessary and we've also been offered a more private and user friendly campsite
nearby. Details to be established at our committee meeting this Saturday.

Please note that there is some savings by registering by mail or online before July 1st.

You can of course wait until the day (July 24th) but it will be too late to buy either
Banquet/Awards Dinner-Dance tickets AND/OR the Sunday British Breakfast tickets.

You can understand that Kings Edgehill has no students on campus in July and hence have
no staff on duty so they need time to recall staff and accurate numbers to acquire foodstuffs
for special events. (Lobster, beef or chciken?)

So don't delay. The details are at:
http://www.britishmotoringfestival.com/

Or click on the 'info' email link and ask for help.

Cheers,
~jwf~

Latest news on BMF.

We had a look at the offered 5 acre site and discovered it was not as advertised
so we have declined that offer. On the basis of the one Landrover registered so
far we have convinced KES that no more than a half dozen will want to stay over
and the offer is for Saturday night only. And we need to know in advance if you
want to camp on campus. So please register soon.

We are still hoping many Rovers will show up on Saturday for the show but we will
not be able to provide Dinner, Breakfast, dormitory space or on site camping for those
not pre-registered. Absolute deadline is now July 12th as we have to give final numbers
for meals and accommodations to KES.

There are lots of restaurants and several campgrounds in the area including the space at
Exhibition Park for those who decide to come at the last minute.

Cheers,
~jwf~

Dear Gypsy Rovers,

When we asked KES for permission to camp on Saturday night only
it was because we already had the 84th Regiment of Foot camping
on Friday night only.

We asked if it would alright for a band of Gypsies to take over that spot
when the Regiment pulled up stakes at the end of the public show (4pm)

KES in fact suggested another area. A grassy knoll on the west side of the
gravel parking lot beside the Athletic Center. But the question of Friday night
did not come up until I read here that some were disappointed with Sat only.

So I have communicated to our committee and so far the 'unofficial' consensus
is that since we are allowing those who have registered in advance for the entire
show to park their cars on campus Friday no matter where they may be staying.
So it comes down to simply not minding if people sleep in their cars.

Our committee meets Wednesday and we will have a fuller discussion but I'm
hoping there will be no problem for Gypsies. This is based on an expectation
of perhaps a half dozen vehicles who have pre-registered and picked up their
goody bags and registration cards at the Friday registration desk in the cafeteria
building at the top of the drive.

Here is the link once again so you can cost out the three day registration and sign
up in the next couple of days for the show, dinner :droolr, dance and Sunday breakfast.
