I pass this along from the British Automobile Touring Association of NS. So nice they are welcoming muddy Land Rovers.

Dear BATANS members,

As you may have heard, a new festival has been established.  It is the British Motoring Festival and it will occur on July 23-25, 2010 in Windsor, Nova Scotia.

Windsor is centrally located in Nova Scotia and is but a few hours' drive along some wonderful windy, scenic back roads from ferries connecting Nova Scotia to Maine, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland.   The venue is the beautiful and historic campus of King's-Edgehill School.  KES was founded circa 1788 and is the oldest independent school in the Commonwealth beyond Britain.  It offers very affordable, on-site dormitory rooms and has an indoor pool and large, airy cafeteria.  It is also close to several motels, B&Bs and restaurants in Windsor.

The festival will have an informal welcoming reception on Friday evening.   On Saturday, the festival will be open to the public so they may admire our terrific British vehicles; there will also be many fun and interesting events on-campus and within walking distance off-campus.   There will be an award ceremony with dinner and dance to follow that evening, all on the campus.  On Sunday morning, there will be a British breakfast and fare-thee-wells.

The organizers of this event are all LBC owners (let's see... an Austin Mini, a Spit-6, one and a half GT6+s, an E-type, a TR3, a Morris, a Bugeye, an AH 100-six and a meandering of MGBs and a tinkering of TR6s) and we are also members of BATANS. Yet the festival is not just about Little British Cars!  All things British are being celebrated and anything with a British motor will find a place at the festival: if you have a British motorcycle we'd love to see it; if you have a mud and moss encrusted Rover, we'd love to have your whole ecology attend; a Centurion tank - we'll make room even though we know you could do that yourself; a Lancaster bomber or a Dreadnaught?  Well... we'll see what we can do.

Please spread the word!  British Motoring Festival.  Windsor, Nova Scotia.  July 23-25.  Details to follow.

Cheers!

The gang at the British Motoring Festival.

The Planning Committee of the British Motoring Festival is meeting this weekend and
I'm supposed to give a report on the interest from the Land Rover Group.

So... has anyone developed a plan for you guys?
Should one of you be on our committee?
Do you have an events coordinator?

We can provide the venue for a fun weekend.
And all British vehicles are welcome.

But if you guys want to make it a weekend event for your group
and coordinate with us then we should establish an official contact.

We are going to be organising our web page content and having it
built over the next week or so, so if you want us to include pictures
of Land Rovers and your logo and a contact person please let me know.

Feel free to email me directly at

OK, I'll step up to the plate.

John,
as far I know there has been no plans carved in stone as of yet as many here want to know what is the requirement from you guys. No, I don't think that a committee member is required from this end, if you use the excisting email contact address that we have for the club (maritimerovers@gmail.com) I will pass on all relavent info. I can provide a higher resolution image for the clubs banner and a sortment of Land Rover pictures from club member vehicles.

"But if you guys want to make it a weekend event for your group"

I've heard no talk of that yet but sounds very interesting and we should explore this further.

Cheers,
Todd.

Yeah, I think you guys know your own vehicles and membership best.
And you can plan a weekend event around ours. We'll reserve an area
on campus for you and can get a better of ideas of numbers later. I'll
try to establish if we can allow your group to have a 'campsite' on campus
but for sure we're offering student-dorm rooms for $20 a night.

Our web page is progressing and Don Aldous is collecting photo materials.
Please send your logo banner and a few interesting photos to
don.aldous@gmail.com

There's not much there yet but you can bookmark our webpage at:

http://www.britishmotoringfestival.com/

Soon it will have full registration details and costs.

I'll keep reporting to this conversation thread as well and should have some
news and specific questions after our planning meeting Sunday.

BTW: I love your webpage and the constantly changing photos on your front page!
Cheers,
~jwf~

Hi,
this sounds really great. I know I would be interested to attend with our Rover.
I know there are trails around the windsor, anyone up there willing to do a trail thing.

Hi folks.
Yes the website is finally up.

http://www.britishmotoringfestival.com/

You'll notice that we're trying to encourage advanced registration by
making it a little cheaper than last minute or 'day of'.  We hope this
will give us a better idea of how many people and cars to expect so
that we can adjust the number of dinners to cook, how many port-a-
potties to rent and how many security agents to arm.

I do hope you guys are organising yourselves for that weekend.
We'd really love to see you all joining us.

I've been a little pre-occupied with convincing the 84th Regiment of Foot
that they should encamp on the rolling green fields of Kings Edgehill.
And they will be there adding a little colour and history to the event.

And we're expecting 'Mr Bean' to arrive in his Mini.

Now if we just had a battalion of mud splattered Land Rovers...

Cheers,

Hi again.
The British Motoring Festival Society planning committee will be meeting
again shortly and I will be asked for an update on any plans that MORE
members might be making to attend.

The website has been updated quite a bit.
http://www.britishmotoringfestival.com/

The on campus accommodation is now set at $25 per bed
in double student dorm type rooms. Singles get the whole
room for $25 if they only sleep in one bed. It's basically a
housekeeping and laundry charge. But a lot of people have
already booked and are planning to party hardy because of
the convenience of not having to drive after the awards dinner
and 'entertainment' on Saturday night.

I hope that MORE members are making plans for the event.
Cheers,

I talked with a fellow from the 84th at one of our Hants symposiums this last winter, and he expects the 84th will make an appearance.

Is anyone actually looking into this?

I've just toured the splendid site and see we're listed as "other fun".
Unless I'm mistaken, there is no effort yet on our part to attend as a club.

It's a shame we havn't picked up the ball on this.
