Caper on the wrong side of the pond

The forums Gallery that is located HERE is outdated limited software that we've been using since moving to SMF a few years ago. The gallery could be upgraded to a so called "Pro" version for a number of green backs, but if doing so even that upgrade is still outdated and limited software for both admin and users alike.

I've been running a test site parallel to MORE for the newest forum software that is in it's Release Candidate stage plus also running other software packages, including a new GALLERY that is much more user friendly for everyone involved. The new Gallery can be seen HERE.

In the middle of the page are galleries that an administrator would create for specific events where the members would have permissions to add pictures. Plus just above that you will see "Users Albums", by clicking on that you would go to user albums where you the users can create as many galleries as you wish and add all the photos that you want. Clicking on any random image would give you more information and of course a larger image. Rating images, leaving comments etc. are options avail to the users. This new gallery is integrated seamless into the forum software so that it wouldn't cause any performance loses or appear to be a add-on.

So why am I telling you all this, well I've been planning for some time now to upgrade the gallery but there are few members who have already added images to the present gallery and once I do the switch over those images will disappear.   Also the present gallery hasn't turned out to be a popular add-on and I think that is because the software isn't as robust or feature full as one would expect.....Therefore its time for a change to a better software package.

Give the new gallery a test drive at the test forum, clicking on everything so that you get a feel for it and leave your comments here. I'll even approve 5 - 10 new members for the test site so that they can upload and play with the gallery so to say.   With the comments that they provide I will tweak the setting so that it is truly user friendly once here.

Cheers,
Todd.

Todd,

Nice improvement. I wish I had time in November to test this.

Thanks Todd,

I dropped the ball on this half a dozen times.
Todd has proposed to upgrade the software and improve the gallery several times before and set up the test forum.
Each time I lost track of it. Sorry again.

Todd does so much for us and I know how grateful we all are.
I'd like to propose we accept his kind offer and buy this upgrade without further delay.

I realise this is a topic for the executive, who ARE the executive?

So how about 3 paid members say "go" and I'll transfer Todd some money.
Oh wait, currently we only have 2 paid members..........

Todd, how about you just do it and PM me the amount and how to get it to you.

Ha!

Well said Peter.

I concur.

Paypal'd my Sept. renewal in this morning. The gallery up grade looks good.

Thanks guys.

The new Gallery software is .......wait for it......... FREE
I've been following these two guys since they started and they have set the new standard for gallery software compatible with SMF. They are leaps and bounds ahead of the nearest contender.

I'll upload the new software soonest but like I wrote earlier, those who have pictures in the present gallery, you will need to upload again

Cheers,
Todd.

NOTE

I've installed the new Gallery to the forum but I have ran into an issue with thumbnails not showing. I'm trying to sort it out as I write this but I have to get ready for work.  ......may have to wait til tomorrow.

I will have the thumbnails fixed soon but as it is, your more than welcome to create user albums and upload images.

Cheers,
Todd.

Back at this again and I just installed "Aeva Media" to the forum.

Using the gallery button above will take you to the new gallery.
Forum members can then click on "My Albums", here you can create new albums. Yes, you can have one or multiple albums and in these albums you can add as many pictures as you like. Please note though, image size is restricted to 512kb.

If a few of you can try this I would appreciate it. I want to make sure that I have the settings correct and as members you can have control with your albums.
