My wife and I in our 1997 Range Rover are heading down to NB the last week of July. We plan to leave on Thursday evening from northeast of Toronto area and drive straight through to Grand Manan Island, via Edmundston (what is the fastest route south to Blacks Harbour?), hopefully arriving late in the day Friday and staying until Monday morning. Then we plan to spend the next five days traveling from Blacks Harbour over to Hopewell Rocks. We'd like to travel some of the 4x4 trails and backroads along the way. I picked up the Backroads mapbook for NB and see there is a whole network of trails just east of Saint John. I also wondered what it might be like to travel from Tynemouth Creek to West Quaco on Cliffview Road. It looks like it might be possible to visit the fundy Trail Parkway, then head north from the eastern end on backroads to pick up Hwy 114 into fundy National Park. We are self contained with a rooftop tent so if there are a couple of good out of the way camping spots, it would be cool to visit them. Maybe we can meet up with some club members while we are in the area. Any help, tips and advice is greatly appreciated. Please reply here or email me at
